Phonics
From September 2025 we have successfully implemented the Read Write Inc programme for teaching systematic, synthetic phonics to all of our children from EYFS through to the end of Year 2. The programme allows us to group children by their individual reading ability where they will work in small groups to develop secure phonic knowledge, accuracy in word reading and fluency which includes using expression, intonation and improving comprehension skills. The programme allows children to develop key skills in decoding words through applying taught phonic skills to ensure that an appropriate level of fluency is acquired to develop confident and accurate readers, ready to progress to a full text based English curriculum.
