YEAR 5/6 GIRLS FOOTBALL

Ardley Hill 1-0 St Christophers

Year 5/6 girls finished their league campaign strongly after defeating St Christophers 1-0 through a fine second half strike by Morgan.

Following on from their away win two weeks ago, the girls started the game brightly, immediately putting the opposition keeper under pressure. Both Maddison and Tycie came close to scoring whilst Vanessa, Thalia and Maya were keeping St Christophers from breaking into the Ardley half.

After half time, the girls continued their dominance and eventually made it count when Morgan struck the ball into the bottom corner. Ardley never really looked in trouble and could have scored more.

A great last game of the league for the girls. With two wins and two defeats, we keep our fingers crossed that we have done enough to progress to the next stage of the league competition.

Ashton St Peters 1-3 Ardley Hill

The Year 5/6 girls won their first game of the season with a fine away victory at Ashton St Peters. The girls controlled the game throughout and took the lead from a fine strike by Amelia.

The team were immediately pegged back with an equaliser however a great run and finish from Maddison resulted in a 2-1 half time lead.

In the second half, some excellent defending from all the girls kept Ashton at bay before Maddison sealed the win with a great left foot finish. Great first win girls!

YEAR 5/6 BOYS FOOTBALL

Ardley Hill 13-0 St Augustines

Year 5/6 boys scored their second win of the week as they were totally dominant in their game against St Augustines, scoring an incredible 13 goals. From the first whistle, the boys ran riot and kept the ball in the opposition half for nearly the entire game.

Every player played their part and the goals were shared around the team. Despite being a spectator for most of the game, Alex also had time to make a great save in the second half to preserve the first clean sheet of the season for the team.

The boys now look to their last game in the league against St Marys. Another win should see them progress to the next round of fixtures.

Ardley Hill 3-2 Slip End

Year 5/6 boys won their first league game of the season with a hard fought victory over Slip End. Twice the boys took the lead through Callum only to see Slip End draw level before half time.

The second half saw Ardley come under pressure and were grateful to some fantastic goalkeeping from Alex to keep the scores level.

Some great football saw Tashinga force a good save from the Slip End keeper which Callum slid into the net for his hat trick.

The boys saw the game out well to secure their first win of the season. Excellent performance boys!

Year 5&6 Girls football

Ardley Hill 0-3 The Vale

Year 5/6 girls kicked off their league campaign with a strong performance against tough opposition in the form of The Vale. Despite the 3-0 score line, the girls were unfortunate to lose as they dominated the game for large periods.

The game started with both defences on top. There were a number of fantastic tackles from the Ardley girls who looked solid and organised throughout. As the half wore on, Ardley were putting the Vale under pressure when just before half time a long ball sent through a Vale striker to score the opening goal.

The girls pushed for an equaliser in the second half with Maddison and Morgan going close to scoring but 2 goals in the last 5 minutes saw the game go the Vale’s way.

A fantastic effort from the girls which should give them confidence going forward in their other league games, well done!
