Here is some useful information to help you with your learning.

Throughout Year 5, we will be learning about Space (Mission X), the Vikings and Anglo Saxons (The Only Way is Wessex) and the Ancient Greeks (Who Let the Gods out?).

All Children should learn their timetables.  All Children should read for at least 20 minutes every day and at least once during the weekend. Children are encouraged to read a book of their own choice.

Below is the year 5 Curriculum overview and gives you an idea of what the year 5’s will be learning about in all subjects over the course of the year.

Mission X

During the Autumn term, America learnt all about space and how it is explored. We even used oreos to learn about the phases of the moon! We have learnt about stars and constellations and the different explanations for how the Earth began.

The Only Way is Wessex

We started off this topic with an exciting Viking battle where the children made armour and then America and Canada fought each other. We have learnt all about the continual battles between the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons for Britain.
