Jonathan Smith BEd (Hons) NPQH - Headteacher

Welcome to Ardley Hill

My door is always open, so please pop in for a chat and a coffee. I will be happy to answer your questions, show you around and discuss future plans.  I may even rustle up some biscuits. Alternatively, you can call me on 01582 667955 or email me at jsmith@ardleyhill.org.uk.  I hope to speak to you soon.

 Message from the Head

Welcome to to our new online newsletter!

This space is in place of our old paper newsletter.  The idea is we can more regularly update sections of this without having to bombard you with emails.

Please email in with any suggestions for things that can go in this space.

Lovely to see a few of you attend our recent consultation meeting.  A lively and productive debate about the changing face of education, the impact it is having more locally and more specifically at Ardley Hill.

I apologise for the horrendous photo of me in my 70’s gear that is circulating facebook, but I hope it helped remind you about our 50th celebrations, including the summer fete.

Jonathan Smith

Farewell…

Staff leavers

Flo Lacroix is leaving after 5 years at the end of this year to start a new adventure and I’m sure you will join with me in wishing her all the best with her new venture and look forward to seeing her here as we have asked her to do some of the forest school work with the children next year.

Pippa Baker is also moving on after 4 years at the end of this year to live nearer her family in Norfolk, so sadly we will be waving goodbye to her also.

Georgia Scott is leaving to pursue her career as a teacher, taking the next step into fulltime teacher training.  Good luck Georgia and maybe you will be applying for posts here in the future!

Iryna’s is leaving us in the summer term as Scarlet returns. Thank you for your hard work and support for Ethan during Scarlet’s maternity. We wish you all the best.

Ria Stanford – is moving on as Archie moves schools at the end of the year

Tracy Stainer – is also leaving Pre school at the end of term.

Alma Jimenez– is moving to Ferrars school in Luton.

Emma Pinnock – will also finish working here at the end of the summer term.

FOAH leavers

Gabby Stares has worked tirelessly for 10 years with Friends of Ardley Hill.  During that time they have raised over £50,000 which Gabby has played a large part in achieving.  She has turned up, whatever the night, whatever the weather and always with positivity and a smile on her face.  We wish her and her family all the best as she steps down from her role and I hope you will all join with me in waving her a fond farewell.

Thank you Gabby, you have made such a huge difference to so many staff, children and parents.

Ardley Hill Academy celebrated its golden jubilee celebrations over the weekend. On Friday evening Dunstable’s Mayor and Mayoress Abbott of Dunstable were given a guided tour of the school. He met teachers & pupils from the past & present. He met Stephen Parkinson who was one of the first children to attend Ardley Hill in 1969. He even had to hand his original school reports which quoted “could do better”. Headteacher Mr Smith cut the 50th birthday cake which had been made by one of the pupil’s parents.

Alley Way Reminder

There has been a number of complaints with regards to Ardley Hill pupils riding their scooters & bikes in the alley way before & after school. This has resulted in children being hurt and even knocked over. May we kindly ask that your children refrain from riding bikes and scooters in the alley way during this time.

Parking Reminder

If you drive your child to and/or from school, could we please ask you to park with consideration around the Academy and neighbouring streets. Please also ensure that you do not park on the ‘School-Keep-Clear’ markings around the school entrances.  This includes the area in front of the car park gates. There should be NO stopping here at any time. Thank you for your consideration.

We look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Monday 9th September 2019.

Pre school will return on Wednesday 4th September 2019.

For further dates for your diary, please see the calendar under the parents tab.
